Name released in deadly Old U.S. 31 crash

The St. Joseph County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) has released the name of the person who died in Friday morning's crash along Old U.S. 31, south of New Road. 

The victim has been identified as 80-year-old Richard Plummer, of Lakeville, Indiana. 

Toxicology results were done, but neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in the crash.

Police say around 12:25 a.m., St. Joseph County Police responded to a car versus pedestrian crash. 

FACT was called to the scene due to the nature of Plummer's injuries. 

Plummer was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he later died. 

As the investigation remains ongoing, police are not releasing the name of the 18-year-old driver.
