Nappanee begins brush collection season

ABC 57

NAPPANEE, Ind. -- The City of Nappanee announced weekly brush collection is back as of Monday.

Weather permitting, street department crews will be out every Monday from now until Sept. 28 for collection.

City officials ask that residents follow the rules below:

  • Size limits - Branches should be no longer than four feet and not thicker than three inches in diameter.
  • Service use - This is for typical yard work. The city cannot collect whole trees that have been cut down.
  • Storm damage - City crews will pick up larger limbs only if they fell during a storm. If you cut it yourself or hired it done, arrange for private disposal.
  • Small stuff - Bag tiny twigs or weeds and put them inside your regular Borden trash cart.

The city will not collect grass, sod, dirt, stone, concrete, mulch, stumps, or building materials, like old fencing.
