Council members approve repairs to Island Park Bridge in Niles

NILES, Mich. – The Niles City Council voted on Monday to move forward with plans to repair the Island Park Bridge.

The decision comes after the Council determined that repairs were urgently needed to the bridge, saying that now is the time to act on it.

The Council says that part of the reason to repair the bridge is they are looking ahead — if they are to restore the park in the future.

It is not known when the bridge will reopen.

The cost of repairing the bridge and cleaning up the park is estimated at $200K.
