Niles gas station robbed at gunpoint Thursday morning
NILES, Mich. -- The Niles Police Department says around 3 a.m. Thursday morning officers were called to the popular Johnny's Market gas station at 434 S. 11th St. in Niles for an armed robbery.
There were no customers in the gas station at the time of the robbery, and the lone cashier was unharmed, but police say the two suspects, described as black males of average height in their 20s, escaped on foot with an unknown amount of cash.
The employee says the two men entered the store wearing dark clothing and ski masks and pulled out guns before demanding money.
They then fled on foot in a northward direction with the stolen money.
The Niles Police Department is actively investigating this case and following up on leads.
"We urge anyone who may have information regarding the robbery to come forward and assist us in our efforts," the NPD said. "You may contact the Niles Police Department detective bureau or report information anonymously to Michiana Crime Stoppers."
