Niles mother of 3 this years honorary breast cancer survivor

Saturday is the Northern Indiana Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This year’s Honorary Survivor is a mother of three from Niles Michigan.

Theresa Harrison was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer three years ago.

She underwent a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Now she’s cancer free.

"Don't be afraid of the test. Don't be afraid of getting the mammograms,” said Harrison. "Knowledge is power and the sooner you know, the sooner you're on your way to a cure.”

Harrison participated in the race for the cure in 2009 before she was diagnosed.

She'll proudly be at this year’s race as a survivor.

The race is Saturday at Potawatomi Park in South Bend. Click here for more information and to register.
