ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department reports officers responded to a home in the 500 block of W. Franklin Street around 6:07 p.m., Sunday, for a hit-and-run with injuries.

Investigators determined a pick-up truck had struck the victim, a 9-year-old boy on his bike, causing him to fall and strike his head on the road.

The man driving the truck, thought to be a Chevy Silverado, didn't remain on scene. He allegedly left, heading west on W. Franklin Street.

The boy was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

This case remains under investigation.
