No cold beer sales in grocery stores

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Monday night a federal judge threw out a lawsuit that would permit grocery and convenience stores to sell cold beer.

The Indiana Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association claims the current law violates equal protection by favoring liquor stores.

The ruling said that allowing convenience and grocery stores to sell cold beer would boost alcohol sales but would make it harder to enforce liquor laws in the state.

The group who filed the lawsuit said they will continue to fight for fairness in the marketplace.
