Non-fiction book signing event for William O'Neal Stringer

Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum

STARKE, Ind. -- The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is welcoming William O'Neal Stringer for his book signing event on Saturday, May 31.

The non-fiction book titled Railroad Stories from the EJ&E and Other Stories, is about a native Northwest Indiana railroader and their experiences.

The EJ&E, or Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway, worked closely with the steel industry and offered freight services throughout the area.

Stringer was third generation while working on the EJ&E and transferred to transportation in late 1976. He then retired in early 2003 as a locomotive engineer.

"I worked with numerous men at EJ&E over my 33 years, and you could best describe them as 'Railroad Characters.' You would have to work 100 different jobs in your lifetime to meet such a diverse array of people." said Stringer.

The book signing will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. central time.
