Notre Dame bans e-bicycles starting in July

University of Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- As of July, e-bikes will be entirely banned on Notre Dame's main campus, the University announced Tuesday.

This new policy for the University of Notre Dame is set to go into effect on Wednesday, Jul. 1.

On the main campus, no e-bicycle, whether operated with or without electrical assistance, may be ridden on any campus pathway, sidewalk, or roadway, nor may they enter any University building for any reason.

Bike racks for e-bicycles will be set up around the campus' perimeter, and e-bikes may only be parked in those locations, with e-bikes parked elsewhere risking ticketing or confiscation.

All other Personal Electric Vehicles, like e-scooters or hoverboards, remain entirely banned and cannot be parked in these e-bike racks.
