Notre Dame fans confident this season

Fighting Irish fans filled Purcell Pavilion in an ACC Conference match up against Georgia Tech Thursday night.

So far this season, the women's basketball team has an 18-2 record and some fans believe they will win the championship this season.

Donald Kirkendall has been a supporter of the team for more than two decades.

"I got my first ticket from Meijer because they were giving them away but I loved them so much when I saw the band, I just kept coming,” said Kirkendall.

He recalls each year he came back that the team got better and better.

"I think we're going to go to the Final Four. I hope so anyway," he added.

Sisters Vicky and Connie Williams have been season ticket holders and Irish fans for years. To them basketball games are more like a girls night out, and a chance to get decked out in green.

"We expect them to go all the way, and win the NCAA," said Vicky Williams.

The sixth ranked Lady Irish beat Georgia Tech 89-76. They will be on the road this weekend in South Carolina and play Clemson on Saturday at 5p.m.
