Notre Dame rises to the top 10 in the AP top 25 rankings ahead of week three match against the Wolfpack
SOUTH BEND, Ind – The Irish prep for NC State’s dual-threat QB in week three in a hostile environment.
The buzz around college football is that Notre Dame is facing their toughest opponent yet in week three in Carter-Finley stadium.
“The two teams we played before were very talented as well. But I think we, it raises a bit of a challenge, been more of a challenge this week,” said offensive line Pat Coogan.
A potential challenge for the O-line, but second year defensive coordinator Al Golden isn’t buying into the hype.
“I don't really get into all that. I mean, that's for that's for you, guys. For us, it's just, you know, how do we have a great Tuesday?” Golden said.
Golden’s defense will start by preparing for the dual-threat QB Brennan Armstrong.
“I mean, he's experienced, right? He plays with poise. He's got the arm talent to get the ball, you know, to push the ball vertical,” Golden added.
Armstrong threw for 155 yards, rushed for 96 yards and scored two of the three touchdowns in the week one 24-14 win over UConn.
But it’ll but just as much of a challenge on defense, as it is for the Irish to move the move down the field on offense.
“We're just trying to prepare for our next opponent this week, who's a hell of a football team and a big-time challenge for us on defense. And we're trying to put our guys including Sam in the best position possible to have success to Saturday,” said offensive coordinator Gerad Parker.
The matchup takes place Saturday at noon, right here on ABC57.
