Notre Dame Scholar joins brief defending Birthright Citizenship

SOUTH BEND, Ind, -- A Notre Dame Scholar submitted an Amicus Brief to the Supreme Court on the Trump Administration's effort to end the law known as "Birthright Citizenship.

The brief argues that making every child born on U.S. soil a citizen strengthens the nation's economy and provides better educational and health outcomes for children born here.

The scholar, Amy Hsin, is a Professor of Migration at the Notre Dame Keough School of Global Affairs.

 Hsin saying in a statement to ABC57 quote, “The research overwhelmingly shows that birthright citizenship has profoundly positive effects on individuals and society.”

Arguments in the Supreme Court begin on April 1st.
