SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame Women’s Basketball Team will leave the country for a three-game tournament in Mexico that begins on Thanksgiving Day.
The team will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico to play in the Cancun Challenge.
The Irish will go up against Florida Gulf Coast University on Thursday and they will also play South Dakota State and South Florida.
Head Coach Muffet McGraw says the tournament will be a true test for her players.
“3 games in 3 days is difficult because you’re constantly adjusting to new things without practice,” McGraw said. “That’s very difficult for a young team and the first team we play — Florida Gulf Coast — is the one that runs the most, so that’s going to be probably the most tiring.”
“I’m looking forward to going to Cancun and hopefully coming back with 3 wins,” Forward Sam Brunelle said. “That’d be great.”
The Irish are currently unranked but hope to turn their season around.
