NORMAN, Okla. -- Notre Dame women’s basketball is gearing up for their first March Madness game with Head Coach Niele Ivey.
Saturday night the women’s team will take on the 12th ranked University of Massachusetts in Norman, Oklahoma.
It is the women’s team’s 27th appearance in the NCAA tournament and the first time under Coach Ivey.
Coach Ivey helped lead Notre Dame to its first national title in 2001 as a player and spent 12 seasons as an Assistant Coach.
She says making it into the tournament isn’t enough.
“It’s my personal goal to get back to this tournament and so I think it’s a huge accomplishment from year one to year two but I’m definitely not satisfied. I don’t want to just say that got a chance to get it in, I want to make sure that we come out and play our style of basketball and to play to our potential,” Coach Ivey said.
The women’s team will take on the Minutewomen Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
