Notre Dame's Basilica to undergo renovations

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — A tradition for many Catholic families here in Michiana is going to the Basilica on the campus of Notre Dame every Christmas.

But this year's mass was different. It's the last one for a few weeks.

The Basilica is undergoing major renovations.

The church is installing a new organ and church leaders have to make room for it.

New floors will be installed, completely changing how the holy space sounds.

"The singing will sound much more glorious, alive and vibrant," says Father Peter Rocaca. "That's what we're looking for here in this space."

The hope is the new space will become popular for more than just Sunday mass, but popular for concerts as well.
