Nurse files discrimination lawsuit against medical center

FLINT, Mich. — A Michigan nurse filed a lawsuit after she found a note that said a new born not be cared for by any African American nurses. The nurse is suing the Hurley Medical Center over allegations of discrimination.

The suit claims she found a note in a patient's file that stated that request.

According to court documents, the nurse was taking care of the baby in the ICU when the father asked to speak to a supervisor.

"It was very shocking to her, she was very upset, she was very offended, she was in disbelief," said the nurse's attorney, Julie A. Gafkay.

The nurse worked at the hospital for almost 25 years.
