NWS confirms EF-0 tornado touched down in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- An EF-0 tornado touched down in St. Joseph County on Saturday, Apr. 18, according to an Indiana survey team with the National Weather Service (NWS).

According to the NWS, the EF-0 tornado was primarily responsible for tree damage in the two minutes it was on the ground after it began on Adams Road between Mayflower Road and Portage Road at 12:51 a.m.

The tornado reached an estimated maximum wind speed of 80 mph before lifting off the ground at 12:53 a.m. east of Alpine Ridge Court.
