Off-duty Conservation Officer helps save a life

HIGHLAND, Ind. – An off-duty Conservation Officer happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Around 4:30PM, Officer Alex Neel, who was near the intersection of Ridge Rd. and Indianapolis Blvd. saw several people starting CPR on a male who had been removed from a nearby vehicle.

Neel stopped to help and confirmed that the Highland man, who was 66-years-old, was not breathing and did not have a pulse.

Neel took over and performed chest compressions for several minutes.

But not long after that, officers of the Highland Police Department arrived and helped Neel until medics arrived.

An AED was used and a pulse was located.

The individual was transported to Community Hospital where he is reported to be doing well.
