SOUTH BEND, Ind. – An off-duty South Bend Police officer was shot at while he was in his assigned squad car around 10:15 p.m. Saturday night.
The officer and his son were at the intersection of Sample Street and Olive Street when the vehicle was struck by a projectile.
Police are still investigating whether the projectile was a bullet or BB pellet.
The officer and his son were not injured, but the front passenger window was damaged by the projectile, according to police.
No suspects have been identified and police are still working to find out if the incident was targeted.
The officer did not violate policy by having his son in the car, according to South Bend Police.
