Old US30 reopens after gas line break

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- Old US 30 outside Warsaw just reopened after it was shut down because of a gas line break. The road closure caused headaches for drivers heading in and out of town. Although the road is open, the break has not been fixed.

Construction along Old US 30 was delayed because of a gas line break.

"People don't understand the amount of infrastructure that's underneath the ground and that's why they drive home that 'call before you dig.' This is a professional construction site so I am sure they did, but every now and then accidents happen,” said Chief Mike Brubaker of Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.

Luckily there was a steady breeze.

"If it would be a calm day, our evacuation zone would be a lot greater than what it is right now,” said Brubaker.

Only a few businesses and homes had to be evacuated because of the gas line break.

Crews hope to have the gas line repaired soon.
