One injured following two-vehicle crash, juvenile driver cited in incident

ELKHART, Ind. -- Deputies responded to reports of a two-vehicle injury crash Thursday at 5:43 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road 17, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say that a 16-year-old from Bristol was traveling west on County Road 10 while crossing County Road 17, and allegedly lost control of the vehicle while accelerating.

The driver then crossed the center median and struck a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 43-year-old woman from Goshen, according to police.

The 43-year-old was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for complaint of injuries to her neck and leg.

Deputies also report that the driver of the second vehicle was unconscious for a short time before officers arrived.

The 16-year-old involved was cited for speeding too fast for road conditions and was not injured.
