VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- On Sunday, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Sheriff Daniel Abbott reported that deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 32nd Avenue and 70th Street in Bangor Township following a report of a vehicle crashing into a house.
A report from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office states that the driver, a 38-year-old male from Battle Creek, was traveling eastbound on 32nd Street. He failed to stop at the “T” intersection with 70th Street and continued driving through the yard, ultimately crashing into the front of a house on the east side of 70th Street.
The home was occupied by the homeowner, who was not in the room that was breached by the front end of the vehicle at the time of the crash and did not sustain any injuries.
The male driver was transported to Corwell Hospital in St. Joseph due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
A search warrant for a blood sample was executed at the hospital, and the blood kit was sent to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The investigation remains ongoing.
