Shots fired into two Mishawaka homes, two people injured
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Mishawaka Police Department announced they suspect four of the five recent shooting incidents in Mishawaka to be related.
MPD released the following statement:
"The City of Mishawaka has suffered a series of shooting incidents over the past week. It appears that the incidents may be related. The men and women of the Mishawaka Police Dept. are working diligently to investigate the incidents and identify the parties involved."
On Nov. 16, at around 10:45 p.m., police say a home in the 200 block of Baker Street was struck by gunfire. The report states no injuries were reported.
On Nov. 17, at around 4:30 a.m., a 15-year-old boy was struck by gunfire while inside of a home in the 200 block of Donaldson Avenue.
Police say the gunfire came from outside the home and was directed at the residence. The boy was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released.
Also on Nov. 17, at around 11:45 PM a 13-year-old girl was struck by gunfire while inside of a home in the 1700 block of Linden Avenue.
Police say the gunfire came from outside of the home and was directed at the residence.
The girl was taken to the hospital for serious, but stable injuries. Police say she's been airlifted to Riley Hospital for further treatment.
A third incident happened on Nov. 17, at around 11:50 p.m. at a home in the 1000 block of Jackson Street. The home was struck by gunfire and no injuries were reported.
MPD says no arrests have been made at this time and the Detective Bureau is continuing to follow up on several leads.
Police say they're additionally interviewing several witnesses and video surveillance recordings are actively being reviewed.
Authorities say citizens should always be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, but their initial investigative information does not indicate a need to deter from normal life activities.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person is injured in a shooting that happened on the 1700 block of Linden Avenue, the latest in shots fired into several Mishawaka homes.
Mishawaka Police Department confirms officers were called at 11:50 p.m. Sunday after several shots were fired into the home, sending one person to the hospital.
The location is along Eberhart Golf Course and a mile east of Mishawaka High School.
Just minutes after that home was shot, police were alerted of shots fired into a home on 1000 Jackson Street several times.
That's 3 miles from the first location and just on the other side of Marian High School's stadium. Nobody was injured in that incident.
Police were already investigating shots fired into three different homes early Sunday morning. It's not clear if police consider the five incidents to be connected.
