Osceola man wins $100,000 from scratch-off ticket

OSCEOLA, Ind. -- Rick Taber of Osceola is the latest lucky Hoosier to claim big money on a Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off. Last week, the St. Joseph County man claimed $100,000 on a ticket he purchased back on July 7.

Taber said he always believed that if he was ever going to win, he expected to win on a date with lucky numbers like "7" and "11". Even so, he said he was shocked when he actually won on 7/11. He was so shocked, he used a magnifying glass to check, double-check and triple-check the ticket for several days.

Taber purchased his winning $100,000 Bonanza Scratch-off ticket at Charlie's at 1001 Lincolnway West in Osceola. He said he waited three long months to claim his prize because he "had a lot of family stuff going on."

Taber is a 30-year veteran water-well driller in his family business. He says he plans to purchase a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his winnings.
