The 3rd annual Save a Life CPR mass training event was held Thursday at Four Winds Field.
Eighth graders from 13 local schools participated in the event hosted by the South Bend Cubs.
The students were trained by local first responders like area ems, firefighters, police officers and medical staff.
“By training this group of students, on a Gerard, they’ll go home and train three additional people far outstanding our reach into the community to try to help improve people’s chance of survival," said Dr Jason Jaronik of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Doctors say a resident suffers a sudden cardiac event every 28 hours with 70-percent of the incidents occurring at home.
