Pair with multiple warrants arrested following police chase
THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- A man and woman who had multiple arrest warrants were arrested in a stolen vehicle following a police pursuit, according to Three Rivers Police.
Police learned a stolen car was possibly located at a local hotel and went to the area to investigate.
When officers located the vehicle, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the female driver fled north on US 131, police said.
While fleeing from police, officers watched the female driver and the male passenger trade places.
The male driver then sped up on Hoffman Street.
The pursuit ended on 6th Avenue when the car hit a small tree and the driver lost control, reports said.
After the car came to a rest against a group of trees, the male driver got out of the vehicle and ran from officers. He was apprehended a short distance from the scene, police said. He was identified as a 24-year-old man from Sturgis.
The woman was taken by ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. She was identified as a 24-year-old woman from Sturgis.
Police said the car was reported stolen.
They located multiple felony warrants for the man's arrest and five arrest warrants for the woman, police said.
Inside the vehicle, officers located suspected stolen property and illegal items, police said.
