Parents and their kids can team up for a free fishing derby

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Parks is hosting a free parent-child fishing derby at St. Patrick’s County Park on May 2.

Kids between the ages of six and ten are invited to join their parent in the derby where teams that catch the longest fish and the largest quantity of fish will each win a prize.

The event will last from 10:30 a.m. to noon with check-in at 10 a.m.

Bait and fishing equipment will be available for participants who choose not to bring their own.

All competitors are required to register for the event by April 28 by calling 574-654-3155 or visiting here

Although the event is free, visitors are still required to pay the park’s gate fee to enter the property.
