People are being encouraged not to participate in “McKinley Cruising”

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The organizer of “Cruising McKinley” says she does not want anyone attending this week's gathering, explaining that she wants to work with police on planning a "more organized, safe clean event."

Last Friday, hundreds of people showed up to the “McKinley Cruising” gathering, sparking backlash over possible violations of social distancing guidelines.

Amy Nickerson, who organizes the event, says that she has been corresponding with the Mishawaka Police Department and she says those conversations were productive.

Overall, Nickerson emphasized the importance of public safety.

Nickerson did not clarify whether or not the event planned for this Friday was canceled, but she is assuring everyone that there will be future gatherings.
