Plymouth man in jail after allegedly making bomb threat at music, racing festival in Michigan

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- A 35-yeer-old Plymouth, Indiana man is in jail facing a plethora of charges after allegedly making a bomb threat at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan Saturday night.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the raceway around 11 p.m., during the GRIDLIFE Midwest Festival, after reports of a disruptive man making bomb threats on the event grounds.

Event security staff told deputies the man had previously been removed but returned and began making the threats.

Deputies then detained the suspect before continuing the investigation.

Security said after the suspect was initially removed, he returned with a black bag. The suspect is then said to have put the bag near the music stage before telling security it contained a bomb.

The suspect allegedly told security the device had gone undetected by the event's explosive detection dogs.

When the suspect tried to grab the bag from near the stage, security stopped him and detained him until deputies arrived.

Authorities then searched the bag, determining there were no explosives.

Deputies did locate a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for ketamine and suspected LSD in the suspect's possession during the investigation.

The report states when being arrested, the suspect resisted but was ultimately taken in without further incident.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Van Buren County Jail.

The suspect is charged with False Report of a Terrorist Threat, False Report of a Bomb Threat, Possession of Ketamine, Resisting and Obstructing Police Officers, and Criminal Trespass.
