Police arrest teens who allegedly attacked woman, stole her SUV
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police have arrested a 16-year-old for allegedly attacking a 74-year-old woman and stealing her vehicle.
The victim told police around 7:40 a.m. Thursday, three males approached her from behind, assaulted her and stole her SUV.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police located the stolen vehicle leaving an apartment complex off Jefferson Boulevard.
A short chase ended at the Cedar Glen Apartments and four juveniles were taken into custody.
A 16-year-old confessed to the robbery and assault of the 74-year-old woman.
Police said he was arrested on a preliminary charge of robbery causing serious bodily harm, felony resisting by vehicle and misdemeanor resisting.
The other juveniles in the vehicle were 15, 16 and 17. The 16-year-old was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
The 15-year-old and 17-year-old were arrested on preliminary charge of misdemeanor resisting.
