SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Officers with the South Bend Police Department are investigating an armed robbery on Tuesday morning.
Police say that the armed robbery happened in the 100 block of S. Michigan Street at the South Bend Chocolate Cafe around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to police, a female employee was arriving to work when an unknown male approached her, pointed a gun at her and demanded cash from inside of the Chocolate Cafe. While this was happening, a second employee arrived.
Police say the suspect threw both employees to the floor, hit and kicked them. The suspect then grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the store and left.
One of the employees, a 31-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital. The second employee, a 22-year-old woman, declined treatment at the scene.
The suspect is described as a male of unknown race, between 5'8" and 6'2" tall, wearing blue and white jeans, a navy blue jacket with gray coloring, gloves, a bandanna over his face and sunglasses.
