One sent to hospital following three-vehicle crash Thursday morning
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded to reports of shots fired near Benton Harbor High School around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found evidence of a shootout on Empire and in the alley between empire and LaVette, police said.
While investigating, officers served a search warrant at a residence one of the suspects may have entered.
In the home, police found two firearms and a "significant amount" of suspected illegal narcotics were found, police said.
The firearms and narcotics were turned over to the South West Enforcement Team for further investigation.
Three men were detained during the investigation, reports said.
Because the incident happened in close proximity to Benton Harbor High School, the school was on lockdown during the investigation. The incident did not involve the school or any current students.
Police are also looking for a burgundy Cadillac sedan that was in the area at the time shots were fired.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
If you have any information in this case, please call the Tipline at 269-927-0293 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP (7867).
