Elderly woman dies after fight with shift lead at Fort Wayne Tim Hortons
Fort Wayne Police Department FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating after a fight at a Tim Hortons in Fort Wayne led to the death of an elderly woman.
According to our ABC reporting partners WRTV in Indianapolis, the fight happened the morning of May 13. Investigators say 75-year-old Anita Grayson entered the restaurant to explain an issue she had with her drive-thru order. Grayson can be seen "berating" a 17-year-old employee. A 20-year-old shift lead intervened, and asked Grayson to leave.
Investigators say a fight then broke out. Grayson can be seen forcefully pushing the shift lead and then striking her on her nose. The shift lead reportedly then approached Grayson swinging her arms. Investigators say Grayson eventually pulled the shift lead to the ground by her hair. Two other employees moved in to pull Grayson off of her but struggled to get her to let go of the shift lead's hair. Grayson did manage to rip a large chunk of hair off of the shift lead's head and could later be seen on-camera putting it in her bag.
Shortly after the fight broke out, Grayson lied on the floor. When officers arrived on the scene, Grayson was unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead.
Her cause of death has not been determined. No arrests have been made.
