Police search for suspect in Benton Harbor, St. Joseph Township shootings

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.—Police believe the same suspect was involved in two separate shootings, one in Benton Harbor and the other in St. Joseph Township, on August 24.

On August 24 around 4:04 p.m., officers with the Benton Township Police Department and the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety were sent to a home in the 1300 block of Union Avenue for reports of shots fired.

People at the scene told police that a woman driving a silver Elantra with an unknown out of state registration had attempted to hit a 26-year-old man with her car before firing one shot at him, reports said.

Witnesses also said that the suspect had her seven-year-old child in the car at the time of the incident, according to reports.

The suspect, identified as Shinnarah Lashay Bailey was last seen northbound on Union in the Elantra, according to police.

Police said that as of Tuesday morning, Bailey had not been located and is considered armed and dangerous.

Bailey is also a suspect in a shooting that occurred minutes later in St. Joseph Township, according to police in Benton Harbor.
