Police trying to ID remains found in Brown County

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. — The remains discovered in Brown County last week could be those of a missing Indiana University student.

Lauren Spierer disappeared on June 3, 2011 after hanging out with a group of friends. She was 20 years old at the time. She would have graduated from IU in May.

Investigators say the remains have been there for at least two years.

However, police say it is too early to say if the body is that of Spierer's.

Investigators are using dental x-rays to learn the identity of the remains. They say that process could take a week.

Community members continue to search for Spierer. Over the weekend, the Bloomington Fire Department posted photos of Spierer around town.
