ELKHART, Ind. – A group of protestors rallied outside of LeMaster Steel in Elkhart on Wednesday.
Activist group Demand Action and community supporters want the company to improve the working conditions.
Inspection records showed that in 2015 there were at least two falls at the company. Since then, Indiana OSHA has not filed any violations.
Over the past three years, the steel workers have held strikes for better pay and safety training.
The protestors said that workers have filed appeals but the company has not made improvements.
“What is going on here is we have this company that’s treating workers injustice, they don't pay on a standard scale, they don't train the guys well enough, they don't have really any training set up, so we're going to make changes in that area," said a protester.
ABC 57 reached out to LeMaster Steel on Wednesday, but they declined to comment.
