BROOKLYN, New York -- Jaden Ivey, a standout player for Purdue University's basketball team, was drafted fifth overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Ivey, the son of Notre Dame women's basketball coach Niele Ivey, spent three years at Marian High School in Mishawaka before transferring to La Lumiere School in LaPorte for his senior year.
Ivey became the first Michiana native drafted in the first round since Wilson Chandler of Benton Harbor was drafted 23rd overall in 2007.
