Railroad crossing at Ash Road and Bittersweet Road closing for updates

Pioneer Lines, working with Saint Joseph County, will be updating the railroad crossings at Ash Road and Bittersweet Road, according to the county.

The current STOP signs will be eliminated for flashing lights and a bell alarm system which will turn on when a train is nearing the intersection.

Construction for Bittersweet Road will start May 17th and anticipated competition is May 21st, according to the county.

Drivers can use Cleveland Road to Capital Avenue or Ash Road then South to McKinley Highway as detour for Bittersweet Road. 

Construction on Ash Road will start May 24th and anticipated completion is May 28th, according to the county.

Drivers can us Cleveland Road or McKinley Highway to Capital Avenue for truck traffic, or Bittersweet for normal / light vehicular traffic as a detour for Ash Road.
