SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A young man is seriously injured after a shooting at the Irish Hills Apartments in South Bend.
Authorities say the 911 caller reported someone was trying to break into their home and shot their son through a glass door.
Bullets holes can be seen throughout the window and walls of the apartment.
Monday morning, the police were out at the location at the 4200 block of the complex investigating what exactly happened.
When police arrived, they found one man who was apparently shot.
He was then taken to the hospital.
Neighbors were left stunned, saying this is the first shooting they’ve ever experienced here, some even say they were woken up to the sounds of gunfire.
One neighbor, Joseph Venanzio was visiting his parents who live here.
“I fall asleep, I heard gunshots, the gunshots sounded really far away, but the sirens were basically by the back window, and as I was getting up more cops started showing up here and all the apartments' sections were blocked off," said Venanzio.
There are no details on a suspect and it's not exactly clear what led to the violence here.
Anyone with any information on the shooting, or potential suspects should reach out to the South Bend Police Department.
