Readers Night Out held to support fundraising efforts for Warsaw Community Library renovations
WARSAW, Ind. -- An event in Warsaw was held Tuesday evening to raise money for renovations at the Warsaw Community Public Library.
It was called Readers Night Out, and it was held at The Barn 1880 Event Venue.
All of the money raised will go toward the fundraiser started by the Friends of the Warsaw Community Public Library, which is raising money for critical repairs and renovations at the Warsaw Community Public Library.
It comes after the Warsaw Common Council a few weeks ago denied the library's $17 million bond request for those renovations to improve infrastructure, safety, and accessibility.
Locals like Julia Porter, who frequent the library often, are afraid of what may happen to the library if those repairs aren't made.
That's why she and a few others came up with the idea for Readers Night Out.
"They know our name, they know what we like to read, and I just think they're pivotal to our community," says Julia Porter, Co-host of Readers Night Out. "I don't think a lot of people realize all of the services that they provide. And we just wanted to help in any way to make sure that we can keep ensuring that students have access to Wi-Fi, people have access to computers and books, it's hard to get books sometimes and they have everything and can get it for us. So, we just wanted to make sure that we could help them continue to do the services that they do for all of us."
People can still donate to the cause anytime here. Donate
