After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After officially opening to the public in April, the Tree House Resource Center hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday for its location in downtown South Bend.
Leaders say the center serves as a place not only for the transgender community, but for anyone wanting a comfortable and accepting spot to hang out, learn and create new relationships.
South Bend Mayor James Mueller joined the ceremony to recognize the center’s leadership and the positive impact it will have on the area.
"We're particularly proud to have Meghan join our downtown ecosystem here. South Bend is a welcoming place for all and we're pleased to have these resources available to our residents and make sure that they have a full sense of belonging in our community,” said Mayor Mueller.
