UPDATE: The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Kern Road, near the entrance to the Lafayette Falls subdivision, was closed for about three hours but reopened around 8 p.m.

The crash is still under investigation.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department reports a section of Kern Road is currently closed as of 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, as officers respond to a crash involving a car and motorcycle.

Police say the crash scene is just outside the entrance of the Lafayette Falls subdivision.

This section will remain closed as the investigation continues.
