Section of Lincolnway West closed Thursday morning due to fire

11:45 A.M. UPDATE: The South Bend Fire Department responded to reports of smoke coming from a building on Lincolnway West around 10:15 a.m. Thursday morning that had traffic blocked off for a considerable amount of time. 

Fire crews say multiple 911 calls were made reporting smoke coming from a two-story commercial building at the corner of N Olive and Lincolnway West.

"SBFD crews arrived to find flames visible through second-floor windows," fire officials said.

"Firefighters quickly made entry, located the fire on the second floor, and brought it under control within 10 minutes. The building was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. Surrounding businesses were not affected."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

ORIGINAL: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A section of Lincolnway West is closed in South Bend at Olive Street due to a structure fire.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The South Bend Fire Department reports the structure appears to be vacant and the fire is under control.
