Risk period over for fungal mengitis in recent outbreak

The risk period for getting fungal meningitis in the recent outbreak is over, but the numbers are still likely to rise.

The CDC said the 42 day risk period has ended. That is from Sept. 26, the date of the recall, on the tainted steroid injections.

The CDC said the fungus involved in the outbreak can have a long incubation period. But it does not mean the patients who received the shots are out of the woods for contracting illness.
