SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Bend will provide holiday assistance to families, benefitting over 500 families and more than 1,500 children with its efforts.
Volunteers will spend today giving out toys, gift cards, food and more to members of the communities in need for the holiday season.
Families registered in advance and were picked to receive the holiday help from the Kroc Center.
Each family can pick out about 2-3 toys per child, a holiday ham with a meal box of side dishes and a dessert to prepare a meal for their family on Christmas, and gift cards to Kohl’s or Macy’s to purchase clothes or winter items as well.
This has been months in the making, and is made possible through donations and volunteers.
There are still a few days to donate toys to the Salvation Army Kroc Center or its barrels inside of Walmart, since it is still handing out toys leading up to Christmas.
Salvation Army Kroc Center also has more community outreach programs scheduled for the beginning of next year, so it’s still looking for donations to help fund those as well.
If you would like to donate money, toys, other items or your time to the Kroc Center, you can find more information about their holiday efforts on their website.
