SBCSC approves description for job that will replace athletic directors

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The Board of School Trustees for South Bend Community School Corporation approved the job description for the new dean of students/ athletics position during a meeting on March 25.

The new position will replace the recently eliminated athletic director position at the city's four public high schools. The move was part of an athletic department restructuring plan announced on March 4.

Tasks for the dean of students/ athletics position include assisting the principal as a member of the administrative team to develop and operate the athletic program.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of successful administrative, teaching and coaching experience.

The School Corporation said that current athletic directors will be able to apply for this new role alongside of other qualified candidates.
