Scrap metal yard fire extinguished after rekindling

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The New Carlisle Fire Department was called back to Smilax Road on Wednesday for reports of a rekindled fire hours after the original fire was extinguished.
The Fire Department was called back out to the area at 10:47 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Most crews left around 11:50 a.m. after putting out the rekindled fire.
There is still smoke in the area.
The original fire, which began on Tuesday, was extinguished around 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
