Search for possible sunken boat on Lake Michigan called off

NEW BUFFALO, Mich. - The search for a possible sunken boat on Lake Michigan was called off around 4 p.m. The Michigan City Coast Guard had been searching for a boat that may have gone under since 1 p.m. The search by water and air started after a life jacket, seat cushion and throwable life ring were found floating in the water about 5 miles off the shore of New Buffalo. The Coast Guard has not been able to confirm that a boat in fact sunk--but evidence on the waters surface has them concerned. The search was called off because they say they exhausted their efforts and will wait for more concrete evidence that a boat was in face in the water.
