Section of Western Avenue closes September 13 for gas line work

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A section of Western Avenue will close starting on Tuesday while NIPSCO works on a gas line at the Mayflower Road intersection.
Both east- and westbound lanes will be closed from Mayflower Road to 300 feet east of the intersection.
The eastbound lanes will reopen to traffic on Thursday but the westbound lanes will remain closed through October 5.
Access to businesses in the area will be maintained.
The detour route will follow Sample Street using Mayflower Road or Chapin Street.
