Sexually violent predator sentenced for possession of child pornography

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A man who is classified as a sexually violent predator was sentenced to over 3 years in prison for possession of child pornography and for violating probation on a prior charge of possession of child pornography.

Daniel G. Boyer was convicted of child molesting in 2002.

In 2017, he was convicted of possession of child pornography and his two year sentence was suspended. He was on probation in this case when he was charged in 2019 with possession of child pornography.

During a hearing Wednesday, Boyer pleaded guilty to the 2019 charge of possession of child pornography.

The court reinstated the 2 year sentence from 2017 because of the probation violation and he was sentenced to 30 months in prison, with 12 months suspended, for the conviction on the 2019 charges.

The sentences will be served consecutively, for a total of 42 months in prison.

Once his sentence is complete, he will be on probation for 12 months.
